We would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to ROSIE THOMPSON, ANNIE RILEY and their team from THE NOT FORGOTTEN ASSOCIATION for bringing their "28 For 28" Party Tour to the Naval & Military Club on Thursday 11th June.
The Not Forgotten Team travel the country working to bring veterans together, reducing loneliness and lifting spirits with light-hearted fun and some good old-fashioned gentle team rivalry. and we at the Naval & Military Club were honoured to be asked to host one of their parties.
This not only enabled our local veterans to get together with their colleagues for a fun social event, but also to meet up with veterans who had travelled to Southend from much further afield, such as Romford, Kelvedon, London, Kent, and even Diss in Norfolk.
We were honoured to have Lt. Colonel Hugh Toler, MBE, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Essex with us for the afternoon, as well.
Following a delicious buffet, a game of pass the parcel, various competitive team games (it's amazing how competitive veterans can be over a game involving spaghetti 🤣🤣), Singo Bingo, then finishing with dancing and a singalong with LLOYD EMERY, everyone went home with a smile on their face.
It is important that veterans feel valued, that their service to their country matters and that they are cared about as individuals.
For 105 years, The Not Forgotten have helped veterans and service personnel of all ages, ranks, backgrounds and disabilities across the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and the Merchant Navy. They are wholly inclusive and non-judgemental. They are not a membership organisation and they support individuals with any physical or mental injury or illness, whether acquired in service or developed later in life.
If you are, or you know, a veteran or service member who might benefit from their assistance, please contact them to check eligibility:
